Alaa and Osmaan, Mubdian's founders, wearing Mubdian sweatshirts — Alaa and Osmaan. We met in France in 2012. Alaa was an architect living in Paris, and Osmaan was passing through on a layover. A story for another day.

We started Mubdian in 2018 because we felt a void. Our cultures were under-represented on mainstream products, and when they were represented, the design always left something to be desired.

So we design from our North African and South Asian backgrounds, giving a modern take on our cultures' most classical elements: patterns, shapes, hues, poetry, calligraphy, and the stuff that, you know, only we get. Our love of travel finds its way in, too.

We give back where we can. Thanks to our customers, Mubdian has donated to Beirut, Black Lives Matter, Palestine and the Uighur people. If there's a cause you think should be on our radar, tell us.

Our family has grown, and Mubdian has changed with it. Read about our new chapter.

Our goal is to make cities like Casablanca and Karachi ring as familiar to the Western ear as Paris and NYC.

A new chapter

When we started Mubdian in 2018, we wanted to make things that felt like home: our languages, our cities, our jokes and the causes we care about. Over the years that grew into more than 160 designs, many of them personalized by hand, one order at a time.

Since then, our family has grown, and our priorities have grown with it. Our time looks different now, and we wanted Mubdian to fit the life we're living rather than the other way around.

So we've made Mubdian smaller, on purpose. What's left is a focused collection of the pieces you've loved most. It's what lets us keep doing this, and keep doing it well.
